WHAT IS A RELAXING ROBIN??????? it is a term I made up for a round robin type quilt that you don't send to anyone. YOU do all the parts........
but the rules are simple.........and relaxed..........no pressure...........just fun
best case scenario: you get a quilt for YOU and have fun and use up some UFOs
worst case scenario: you learn new task, you have a quilt to donate, and you still get to use up UFOs
what do you say? Are you in?
One of the dresdan plates above is what I am going to start with for mine..........
here are the "rules" of how we will proceed......
1. choose a block from your UFO pile to work with. If you wanted to, you could make the center larger by sewing some together, two, three, four etc. have fun! if you sewed 3 for example runner style then you could make the finished quilt rectangular instead of square.
2. add a small border simple. could be a plain border, pieced, appliqued etc but make it small. try and use a color not used in your block for added fun later on
3. Add applique. could be to the small border, could be to the inner block, or could be an applique border itself. again, try out options and have fun
4. add some triangles. this could be flying geese, pinwheels, etc. again, have fun with this. there are many blocks and ideas with triangles.
5. using some of the fabric in the first border make another border of your choice
6. make a border that has squares in it; 4 patch, checkerboards etc would be welcome here. again have fun
7. finish as you wish. this can mean another border or if you think you are done, quilt and bind up the baby.
see? simple. and you know what? if you don't want to do triangle border as step 4 switch it with another round. we don't care.
so what do you say? DO you want to play in 2014??????
Join me and if you do leave me a comment with your blog address. I will try and add a link to everyone's blog on my blog so we can see everyone's progress.
hmmm.... do I use one dresdan or more? what do you think I should do? hmmmm......

hmmm TAZ doesn't look happy.
what do I work on next?
Do I finish up some unfinished things?
try and find these little gems and make them into something?
surround Taz with some left over projects and make one project?
forgot what I was going to do with these little 5 inch gems.
but I like them..........
Or do I plan my "round robin at home" project
and turn my dresdans into something?
so many projects
maybe I will go "hunting" in the sewing room
and grab 3 projects. the first 3 I grab, I have to work on
think I can do it????
(I am not so sure I can.....LOL)

what a difference a year makes........
My hair is now gray and white (I stopped enhancing it's color)
We are not "renters" anymore, we own our own home
Our beloved Gram Lacombe is not with us this year
from this picture I can see I have gained some "cookie" weight that will need to come off
As the years go by we reflect on the year and the changes that happen to us both good and bad.
We have had many happy occasions in the family, cousins that have had births,
we bought our home,
we have made wonderful new friends,
and some sad too like the passing of Gram.
Life is continually changing.......
Hoping the changes for 2014 for everyone are good and happy ones.....

these guys are the best gifts...........grandkids
they should have come before the KIDS.......dont you agree?
I mean kids are great but pressure to raise them etc.......
and you are not sure of your "grade" in raising them until...........
these guys come along..........and make you proud to be a Grammie!
Love my Grandkids.........they are what makes Christmas.........

this is what Dunkin and Phoebe are getting for Christmas.
please ignore the greasy hand prints on the microwave.
I didn't have a good background for the bird and just had a muffin for breakfast.
guess it wasn't low fat huh?
anywho, this is the bird that is on TV. saw it at the store and decided to buy it for the "kids".
they love playing with things that move
hubby and I had to try it out and set it up
to make sure it was working.
he is so cute
moves his head and flips his tail
we are crazy people!
sad when a toy parakeet gets you excited for Christmas! LOL
last year the cats got the yellow thing to chase. It is round and has a little tail sticking out that goes round and round
they love it.
when Dad remembers to replace the batteries.........
Hope you are having a little Christmas fun this season.....
