I need a baby quilt for a girl

Dunkin says......
"Oh Mom, look at this..........I love the hearts....."

I found this UFO while setting up my sewing room. I made this  a few?(cough**cough) years ago as a pink cancer challenge quilt and never finished it. my idea at the time was to hand quilt it and do some echo quilting around the hearts in the muslin section. the rest was to be plain straight line quilting. It was to be donated for cancer month to a hospital to be used to warm women as they got cold during treatments....... easy.............or so I thought

but.........this quilt may have had another purpose...............look at the scrappy fabrics..........it was fun to sew scrappy half squares........then put them together and applique the hearts..........

I think Dunkin approves........he seems to be looking at it intensely...........in reality to get this "shot", he was reprimanded and this is his "I am mad and not looking at you mom" face. ha ha
no kitties were harmed in the making of this picture............just feelings hurt that he was not allowed to dig his claws into it and make a mess........

I think this will make a cute baby quilt for a girl.........whatcha think?
I may need a simpler quilting pattern to finish it quick...........

any suggestions?  I have a future baby in mind for this gift but don't want to jinx it. I just want to finish it soon.........need borders? leave as is?  it is long and will fit the crib and a small child's bed so it can be used at the toddler stage as well.
I remember my nieces dragging around their quilts that I made when they were babies. One even in her teens wouldn't give it up so her mom could wash it. I laughed and said to her I will make you a new one. she said No Auntie, that is my blankie!  love it when quilts are loved........

  1. Perfect for a baby girl I think---so pretty! Love that single heart...perhaps echo quilting around it and then just diagonals across the others?? Have fun! hugs, Julierose
