new scraps new ideas...........

remember this?

well here are the two pincushions I made quick fast and in a hurry.

I had the one little scrap of the burgundy and beige linen and paired it with a 5 inch square from my winnings the other day...........

and voila!  two new pincushions

sure beats this old thing. I think I have had this since I first started sewing in eighteen hundred....... LOL
let's just say it has seen better days........ but it still keeps on working......I just need to replace it and let it retire and rest

and once you get the spirit of something new, it affects you in many ways......I found this "potato chip scarf" pattern online and had some scraps of blue multicolor yarn leftover from another project.........

in a couple nights while watching tv with hubby I completed it........into the Christmas box you go for a nice little giftie........so neat how that happens. the box is almost full of little goodies like this. the pincushions are in there, little things I picked up for stocking stuffers, etc. all hanging out together for a while. do YOU have a Christmas box? I put things in it year round. my two nieces that sew with me have started their own too. it is funny. the 21 year old says to me Auntie, I bought a bigger clear see through plastic box for mine. you should get one too. I have an old cardboard box. I just may have to splurge as mine is a tad too tiny.......hee hee

and here is some grab and go sewing or 15 minutes to sew or dump sewing or whatever you call it. I have a small basket of scraps I keep near the sewing machine and when I just need a "sewing fix" I sit for a bit grab a couple pieces and sew. I sew and trim and sew until I get a decent size piece. then I trim down to make squares. I have some in 12 inch size and these two are 8inch. I will use them in a quilt once I have acquired enough. it is easy peasy and solves a couple of things.........my urge to stitch,  the need for a quick utility type quilt at the ready and the need to experiment with color and piecing etc. plus it helps me to use up those tiny pieces of fabric that we paid so dearly for. I hate to throw them away. they can become a cute quilt, a pouch, a potholder, a mug rug etc. you can see the possibilities right?

and you can kind of "color coordinate them if you wish.....this one is all greens.........could become a green holiday potholder?  one never knows.........

these guys have been paired with some fabrics from my new acquisitions below........
(I trimmed them to 5 inches to match some charms.......

once they are sewn I will let you see how they are progressing...........LOVE LOVE LOVE MY SCRAPS AND MY NEW INSPIRATIONS...............

thanks AGAIN JulieRose...........and Willa  ******wink*******

  1. What a super idea--a Christmas box full of goodies--now I'll HAVE to start one...probably cardboard, too--it works. Glad you are inspired...hugs, Julierose
