this moose is an applique that we drew for my nieces quilts when they were 9-10 years old. I let them zigzag stitch to attach it to the background.. I believe we also did a little of the iron on to the back to hold it in place.
easy peasy........this was the first method I used.....
then I wanted to expand my skills
for mother in laws quilt that I made each square have meaning for her life
see that square with the three boys? yeah, THAT one. see how tiny the hands are?
they are the size of the eraser on a pencil. and I used the dryer sheet method and sometimes just did
needle turn. I imagined how I wanted the shape and then just went for it adjusting the size and shape as I went
yep...........just like that
of course I had a TON of practice on her quilt
which is all that is needed to perfect a new skill
dont be afraid. I wont send Phoebe to inspect your stitches like she is doing to mine in the above picture. she is my worst critic!
but I always reward her opinion with some treats
it's the least I can do.
