burp baby burp

I am spending my free time cutting out baby burp cloths
while cleaning I found some cute fabric
and some red flannel

so proceeded to cut out about 7 baby burp cloths
and sewed one........
just because it is so darned cute!
I saved the scraps

(not what you think!)

to make some "matching" bibs
for my grandson due in April

some cute little sewing for a quick fix
and useful gifties for him.

how did I clean up my sewing room?

by cutting 2 1/2 inch squares of fabric pieces
and then they were so cute sitting there in the metal tin
that I had to sew some.........
yeah..........so much for "cleaning".
I sewed 7 of these 16 patches......2 at a time
then four
etc.

kind of like that mountain to climb
because it was there...
because I can...
LOL
BUT I DID find some more sewn coin pieces in the pile
they were so pretty I just had to do something with them

so pulled out a coordinating red fat quarter
and proceeded to make a zippy bag
no pattern. I just used the size of the coin piece
cut it into 2  one for front and one for back
then cut some fabric about half the width of the coins and sewed to the top
added more red to the bottom
sewed in the zipper
turned and sewed the sides
made the little triangle thingys a the bottom to give it depth
and made a tie for the zipper
I didnt line it but next time I will try that with a pattern
I dont think it came out too bad for winging it
the angle of the camera is off. it is not wonky......
it is hard to photograph anything with cats around.
I twist and turn and try to get the shot before I
get photobombed

another gift that was unexpected for the Christmas box.
I should clean more often eh?

look what a snowday will do

meet Miss September. dont you love  that fabric? i only wish I had used more brown on the other side
but this was a Missouri Star Quilting special charm pack
I think it was called Elementary
loved the idea for Sept
and paired it with a black that reminded me of an erased
chalkboard
Am I having too much fun? LOL

here is the back fabric I used. something in the stash

Miss July with her glasses ready for fun in the sun

August was smooth sailing........

and October didnt come out exactly how I envisioned it
but I think it is cute

the black was iron on tape from my Moms stash that I used
the recipient will approve   <3

but I had to improvise.....there was not enough to do
what I had wanted to do
and it was over 20 yrs old so no finding any more for sure that would match
so I quilted in some spider webs.........

just for fun

see what a snow day will do? LOL
and I had to shovel too!
how did you spend your blizzard 2015?

snow snow go away

this was the snow from last years storm. I did not take one from
the blizzard of 2015
see that pile? it is so high this year that you can not see the houses
it is almost touching the bottom branch of my tree
yeah...........no place to put the snow
there is so much snow they plowed and had to bring in the loaders to move it
there is no place to put it!

after shoveling for a bit this was a welcome warm sight
the hot coffee and computer.......aaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh

but this sight made me jealous

this one too. um..........kids.........there is SNOW to shovel........
they didnt care
one darned BIT
they just yawned and rolled over

while I braved the snow spitting in my face as I dreamed of this

warmer days.............

today I have a DATE.........

with this beauty......
see ya soon!

July and August ah lazy days of summer

I guess I can dream right?
we are in the midst of a snow storm-30 inches of IT ARE DUE TO FALL...
and it has been a blowing since 2 am.
ask me how I know......LOL
Dunkin is in a trance looking out at it. he has never seen much snow and is wondering
what the heck it is.......
he has been staring out the window......LOL
I have July done and quilted........

and August is up next.......
wait till you see September! I had gotten fabric squares on Missouri quilt
and I am in love.........I pieced some and combined it
with a black and gray print (think chalkboard...)

so Aug, Sept and Oct are up to be finished.........
hopefully TODAY!
an unplanned SEW day
er, um I mean SNOW day

as long as we have power.........
when the power goes out I have another one in the works to be hand stitched
where there is a will there is a way as the saying goes.......

WHAT ARE YOU UP TO TODAY?

June oh how I wish it were June LOL

this is the June centerpiece
I absolutely love this one.......
partly because it was my Moms fabric
partly because of the kids frolicking on it

I ask you is there anything cuter?
(well, except for all your grandkids of course)

I added the same texture as another one further back

Yeah, just like this girl I am JUMPIN FOR JOY..........
another one bites the dust!

not bad for January so far........

That means
Jan
Feb
Mar
Apr
May
and June
are DONE..........

onto July and the rest of the year
hopefully I can finish MOST of them

May flowers

this is the May centerpiece

here look closer
see that texture????

let me show you the back.......
I am no prize quilter by any means
but I am proud of this one

I meandered around it
easier to see on the plain back

trying to photograph it is not easy
this is closer to the color.
it is a fabric that reminds me of the old fashioned
roasting pans with the dots of color in it

it is old fabric that was in my stash
no idea when I got it

but I am loving it
On to the next one!!!! LOL

April is done

this is the April centerpiece......

FINISHED..........

Did you hear ME??????

I SAID FINISHED

LOL
I am so so happy..........
this has been a fun project to do
and I am kind of sad to know the end of the
kite centerpieces is coming......

oh my i have more than I thought

here is another little lap quilt
this must have been from the year I was
trying to make a few for the nursing home
it is a stripe that I like but a denim weight
maybe I need a denim back with no batting?
we will see
this too is just a small lap size
and I would like to finish it up
Dunkin agrees
hmmmm.......could he be a "two quilt cat"?????

I DID find a piece of batting to fit the other one so the three parts are together in the pile for the
next projects to try to finish

maybe there is something to this thing called "organization"

LOL

a top for a guy

found this to in the quilting things
It is very long and narrow
if I can find the right fabric I am
thinking I need to add wide sides and make it
a finish
it was made of duck panels
and has a shiny blue fabric
and green scaly print fabric
not even sure but feels like a little poly may be in there
if I quilt it again with straight lines real close
maybe, just maybe I can get another finish

see the duck?  it has other colors I can bring out too
like a brown
or another shade of blue or green
he is also in the lineup if I can find appropriate
fabric for the sides and back
if not, he may get chopped into something smaller
like totes?  we will see
I want a finish!

getting things in order

here is the quilt top I gave you a sneak peek at the other day
just a small quilt out of squares I had at the time
so pretty though in old fashioned fabrics
callicos and florals

this is what I found old fashioned looking for the back.
now it can go on the list for quilting
I am thinking straight line maybe the long way
and then I will hunt for a blue binding once that is done
I think it makes a cute little drag around quilt or
keep my legs warm quilt

hoping this one will see a finish this year!
maybe, just maybe if I organize myself and my time.....
you think???? LOL

Mom why did you wake me up?

this little sleepy head was not happy I snapped her picture.
Why did you wake me up Mom?
Well Phoebe, it is like this. Dunkin has been helping Mom
find things in the sewing room and I just thought
MAYBE you would like to help too.

oooooo........  good find Phoebe. I want to finish some of these purses in Feb.
I had forgotten that I had sewn some blue squares for a blue one
gotta find a coordinate for the bottom and handles............
that should be easy in blue........It is all over the place as it is my fav color

aw.........a remaining square of deer fabric........I thought I had used it all up
what to do with it? maybe in an eye spy ?

check out my completed journal. each year I write down projects I have completed.
it helps me to see how much I have done
Lookie so far!!!!!
and it is only a little past the middle of the month.
YAY me!!!!!

we will see if I can accomplish my goal of getting all ten kite centerpieces done in Jan......
thanks for helping me baby.......you can go back to sleep now.....

found some patterns

how cute is that little one dragging the quilt?
and I like this bag
when I looked a the instructions this is what it says:

ut oh..........I cant buy another template. I will have to see if my dresdan wedge
ruler will do
not sure of the angle it needs
but a cute bag for some of my scraps I think.
we will see.
Maybe if I kit up some things like cut fabric and patterns
then when I want to start a new project I can grab and go..........
hmmmmm now there is a thought........
naw..........sounds too organized for me! lol

cleaning is not fun....or is it?

decided to try and tame this mess.......

yes my helper broke in......er I mean helped
he was searching for something like a man on a mission

I found Easter eggs. WHAT???? In my sewing room????
they belong in the shed with the rest of the out of season stuff.......geesh!

oooooooo    Dunkin..............look what Mommy found!  a long lost quilt top
ready to back and be quilted into a lap quilt........

I just may have to find some pretty backing and do this one up.
love the colors and fabrics.........
kind of a use it up quilt
AND in the January color of blue for the rainbow scrap challenge.
I guess I should clean more often, huh????

August is sewn and ready too

Here is August. boats and sunny things like blue gingham
ready to batt and back

then I will just need Sept and Oct

hmmmm......... I had bought this Elementary pack
from Missouri Quilt
you think it was subconscious?

Maybe if I take some of these prints
and stitch them up crazy quilt style
and pair with a nice neutral

Sept may be coming up soon.......
And Oct I have a plan

that will finish them off because the recipient has Nov and Dec already.
fun fun............

Saturday in the park I think it was the 4th of July

got cha singing didnt I? LOL
this is Jan, Feb and March all done!  whoot whoot!

April is cut with Easter theme
see those yellow blades? yeah, they were another fabric
but when I cut more blades they were underneath
ever do that? NO?
just me

see the Easter fab? I thought I still had yardage......
but found the scraps and used them anyway
maybe I will find the yardage for the back

this is June from Mom's fabric
love it! may have to make one for me out of this if I have enough for some blades

see how adorable?

love it

and I found some July fabrics I think I can use

maybe this for August   not sure yet

and some florals for May
coming along.........

like a Saturday.......
in the park
I think it was the 4th of  July

a man selling ice cream.........

hope your Saturday is a Saturday in the park!
