use it up wear it out make do or do without

I found some embroidery hoops in my room
when cleaning
these old eyes wont let me embroider anymore
heck it would be hard to thread the needle never mind
follow a pattern
so what to do?  send them to the thrift store?
find something to make with them?
(duh duh duuuuuuuuuuuh..........work with me here as Super Quilter
just arrived and said make some organizers- yeah I KNOW
great idea!)

I found a layer cake I liked
picked some lights and darks to go together
folded one in half right sides out (see yellow one above)

took that one and stitched a row 1/4 inch away from the edge
just to make her purty

took a hoop and decided if one pocket or if I needed to stitch more

stitched up a pocket.......

put it in the hoop and cut off the excess
leaving some to turn and hot glue to the back

and voila~  a pretty useful little thing
and purty too!
she will go on the wall behind the sewing desk
to hold little scissors and templates

wash, rinse and repeat with the rest of the hoops
making different sizes and some with light on top
some with dark for variety

try out the little pockets.......
oooooooooooo.......I am soooooooo excited
now to glue them all in back and get some command hooks

to hang them on the wall.
see?
purty
and
very
useful

LOVE IT
Me and Miss Fancy completed our second project of the year!

  1. Aren't you ingenious!! Great idea. I have several of these hoops from the items that my grandmother gave me; I could make some too!
