did you slab with us?

These are the slabs that I received
in our slab swap
I was lucky and received TWO from each participant
soooooooooo
ONE of each persons will go into my
other slab quilt
and then the others I played with.........
hmmmm.........

from Jeanna..........

chedda  and a cute little block

From Julie Rose..........

from Jacky..........

from Rosemary..........

how can I make the colors flow
into one table runner? .....

so I started  by cutting the blocks down
to 6 inches
then I got an epiphany........

a EUREKA moment if you will. LOL

I thought STARS
(or I was seeing stars hee hee)

anywho I pulled a variety of blues
in a medium to dark shade
and one light background

matched them up to the centers

and I liked it so continued.......
see the one on the left? yeah that
was MY block that I started with
in case I didnt like the idea

Julie, Do you recognize your block? ha ha
love it

and then I sewed and sewed
and sewed
until
I
had
the
four
slabs
received
and
mine

and then I trimmed them down to
the same size
(yeah my quarter inch seam is not always
a quarter inch..........
you got something to say? LOL)

and then I sewed them into one row
for my table runner
made by my slabbing friends

I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!
and dont worry
those cuttings that I trimmed when making
the blocks smaller?
I saved them
YES I DID
because...........

I need a backing
and they will be PERFECT
to resew into maybe a huge slab

what are YOU making with YOUR slabs?
were you unsure how you were going to sew
blocks f rom many people ?
many fabrics none linking
to the other blocks?

find a way to join them
maybe you border them all
in the colors of the other blocks
if you have the color and intensity
it will be enough to make it work.

PLAY
in your stash
and MAKE SOMETHING FUN!!!!!

this FALL Jacky and I have another slab project planned

YOU WONT WANT TO MISS IT

just put your orange scraps in a safe place
and be on the lookout for your favorite pumpkin recipes
because we will be using both

maybe in late Aug  early Sept?

KEEP CALM AND SLAB ON!

  5. That runner is absolutely gorgeous. I'm amazed at how you brought all of those very different slabs together. I hope my project is half as nice!
