sewing on the weekend

Jacky and I cancelled our screen room sewing
Jacky had a bad cold and there was
a threat of maybe a shower
soooooooooooo
I went in my sewing room by myself instead
(I KNOW! sniff sniff.... well Dunkin kept me company....)

remember the slab stars?
(how could you forget those pretties)

well, this was the cut offs and I didnt want to
waste anyones fabrics

I KNOW.........
I AM BAD like that......just ask Jacky!
when I come over her house she nails
down her scraps! LOL
and her bouncer hubs meets me at the door
and frisks me on the way out
just to be sure.........ha ha

anywho, I grabbed these little slab starts
and started slabbing AGAIN........
with dark blues this time surrounding them.......

and I made some "blocks" around 12 inches wide or so
and joined them into one long
backing

see those cute little cutoffs?

peeking out here and there

all the way across the back

yep
LOVE IT

and once I put this backing on my slab runner
and handquilt er up
(yes it is for ME so I will keep as a winter project
to keep my hands out of the cookie jar- cant eat
cookies and hand quilt. the chocolate will get all over
the quilt top, right?)

I LOVE THIS SLAB PROJECT
and I hope I have inspired YOU
to use up those pieces of fabric
and make something pretty and fun

(or if  you still dont like them, send them along
to ME
I will use them up.......heck playing in other peoples
stash is so so fun)

missed you Jacky...........hope you feel better soon!

  1. Nice work with those leftovers (notice how so many quilting terms use food terms??) anyhoo, I like how this turned out...and by the way if you want to eat chocs and sew/quilt...just put a handy wipe next to your basket--ask me how I know hahaha hugs (mouth full) Julierose

  2. Beautiful pairing of your slab blocks with a pretty star block. This will look fabulous all together. Yeah, try as I might, snacks do sneak into the sewing room somehow; that handy wipe idea above is a good one.

  8. It's always nice to use leftovers. Or as I call it "fall out of the fridge." or in this case "fall out of the scrap basket." You did well!!
