hurricane finishes

these are the four potholders I ended up sewing and binding during hurricane Sandy. the two blue things are about 3 inches square filled with rice. I want to make a basket full of them to be used in gloves and mittens to warm hands when shoveling or out for a period of time waiting for the bus etc. You zap them in microwave for a few seconds (depending on microwave) to warm them and then the warmth will last a while on cold hands.
arent they the cutest? I know I will appreciate them when I am cleaning off my car to go to work at 6 am!

today I am thankful for enough food to be able to choose what I want to eat. many dont, especially those hit hard by Sandy.
What are you thankful for?

Sounds like you put your hurricane time to great use! Love the mug rugs and rice hand warmers. Great idea! May have to try that one!
