inspiration from nature

it is sprinkling a little
this is the pattern on the car

along with a little splash from a "creative" bird LOL

lichen on the tree branches

a weird growth on the tree in front.
such neat patterns
and colors
inspiration for some more quilting?
inspiration is everywhere!

too funny

one little boy saw his cake and wanted it
he was told he had to wait
and he was not liking that idea!

then it was time and out came the candles and the singing

yay! he blew them all out!

but Auntie.....what do you mean it is a money cake?
ok I will pull here........
WOW..........this is fun!

hold my money Dad. this is for my piggy bank!

uh, Dad.........
remember that is MY money!

success and one happy little boy!
I know my Mom was watching him.
life is so much fun through the eyes of a child

how dry I am

this is how dry the gardens are
even the weeds are protesting!

I guess Fall isnt far behind........
I am ready with my decoration on the door anyway

how to make a money cake

I started with one round chocolate cake

one yellow 13x9 cake

twenty one dollar bills........

tape the dollars end to end by the short ends to make one long chain

fanfold the bills so that they are half the size and will fit in a box

take the small box and make sure the bills fit through the slit in the top easily

see the bills wont touch the cake. they touch the box.......

cut a hole the size of the box in the cake. this is where the dollars will be

put the bills in the cake with just the top sticking out to attach to something

frost the cake right up to the bills- don't worry if a little frosting gets on the money

decorate as you wish......... that cement truck is frosted
onto a piece of cardboard that is taped to the dollar sticking out
you need to hide it well for the surprise

another angle

the top I have chocolate cake with the backhoe digging out the cake
and some rocks of chocolate covered raisins

see how cute?

no body will ever know......
until the candles are blown
and the cement truck is lifted
then the taped money will follow
and the more he pulls, the more money will come up.......

FUN!    I can't wait!

who can YOU make a money cake for?

the makings of salad

here is the lettuce
coming back
stay away Mr Bunny
I will squirt you again with the hose
dont make me hurt you!

and more soon to be red tomatoes

acid free ones too........

and green peppers

well the green peppers are late bloomers I guess........but hey
I'll take late.
better late than never right?

raining cats and dogs this week

it is supposed to be rainy and have lightening and such the beginning of this week
so what better way to start out the week
than with raining cats and dogs

here is the "dogs" part LOL
one more mug rug down
and in the box!

purple and butterflies

here is my butterfly bush. I need to deadhead it but the purple spikes are so pretty

this picture is just "keeping it real". see? I have work to do!

and this is the poison ivy garden.......
I mean the back "tree fell on the garden" garden
maybe next year it will look better

there......doesnt that look better?

and when I zoomed in..........
a butterfly

or moth like thing with white on its wing. almost looks like someone painted it.
isnt nature wonderful?

rocks in my head

anyone ever make treasure rocks?
what are they you say?

they are made of flour, salt, water, sand and coffee grounds.
they are made to look like real rocks and surround a surprise
in this case for the girls, some rings

dont they look good?
once they dry a bit, the inside will stay a little moist but outside will be crunchy

and you crack it open
I love making these.
these are for the yard sale

this little piggy went to market and this little piggy stayed home

four of these little piggy banks are done
I need to cut out more now
easy peasy project that I can work on before going to work
I stitched around the coin hole
to stabilize it a bit

these will sell on the kids table
cut, fast and fun
gotta see if I have other felt colors
I know i have a whole yard of pink
the boys may not be a fan

rose of sharon

remember the story of this bush? when we came to see the house
my hairdresser, Sharon, was the one that told me about it
when we did a walk around we saw this Rose of Sharon bush
and I knew with all the other things
1) I found a 4 leaf clover in the yard while waiting for the realtor
2) we saw Rose of Sharon- hairdresser is Sharon and told us about house
3) I saw lillies - My Moms favorite flower
4) we had a pignut tree- mother in laws favorite thing
we KNEW........

it was the house for us...... arent these guys pretty?

I tried to get the bee in there. he was happily buzzing along his daily work

and look! buds galore!  for more flowers later on
how lucky am I?
