what do you do with small scraps you ask?

As I have said before (I KNOW Jackie I KNOW) LOL
I save the SMALLEST of scraps
I do not know why
I have YARDAGE up the wazoo on the shelf
but there is something about making something
out of stuff someone else would throw away

I sew these little small strips into
bands of strips
when I get a ton of them I will pick
out some background fabric,
cut some squares,
cut some 2 1/2 wide strips of these
and sew them in
to make a birch tree quilt
I am thinking a gray background but we will see.....

sometimes I have odd shapes
so I sew them into a piece willy nilly
and then cut into blocks
this is my stack of 4  8inch blocks

and I label them and put them in the pile for
playing with later on

what do you make with your scraps
and what is the smallest size you keep?

I make tiny hexies, and anything bigger than 3/4 but less than 1 1/2 I put into a string box and the tiniest scraps go into a pet bed.

Oh my goodness you are speaking my language! Currently I am making Ocean Waves blocks (quiltville) out of my tiny cut off triangles and 2.5" squares, its slow going but it will be amazing when its finished! The smallest scraps I save are 1.5" squares...I'm a nutjob!

Love that Birch Tree idea--I saw that online and loved it, too. I am still really feeling sick--I had thought after 5 days on meds I'd be up and running--but, noooo! AAAARGH! Off to take another nap...hugs from afar Julierose

Those pretty bits of color are so hard to throw away. I always like to see how quilters use their scraps. Thanks for sharing with Oh Scrap!
